High-End Landscaping in Palo Alto, CA
Del Conte’s M&H Landscape Construction was founded in 1972 and specializes in high-end residential landscape design and construction. We are not a mow-and-blow service. Our team plans and builds complete outdoor environments for Palo Alto homeowners: landscape design, construction, outdoor living, hardscape, irrigation, drainage and lighting, all coordinated by one team.
Designing Landscapes for Palo Alto Homes
Palo Alto’s architecture ranges from historic homes in Professorville and Old Palo Alto to mid-century Eichlers and new contemporary builds. We design landscapes to match: clean lines, large-format pavers and architectural planting for modern homes, and brick, natural stone and layered gardens for traditional ones. Eichler landscapes in particular benefit from designs that connect indoor and outdoor space through the home’s glass walls.
Many Palo Alto projects also involve heritage and street trees, which require careful planning around roots and canopy. We lay out patios, walls and utility runs to protect existing trees wherever possible, and we pair every landscape with efficient irrigation and low-voltage lighting so it is easy to enjoy and maintain.

Why Palo Alto Homeowners Choose DCMH
- Since 1972: founded by Tom Del Conte, with leadership that has been with the company for decades.
- In-house crew: our own experienced craftsmen build your project, not a rotating cast of subcontractors.
- Designer oversight: the designer who plans your landscape sees it through construction to completion.
- Full service: design, construction, hardscape, outdoor living, irrigation, drainage, lighting and ongoing care from one team.
- Built to last: we focus on the parts you don’t see, like grading, compaction, drainage and wiring, so the parts you do see stay beautiful.
Whether you are planning a complete makeover of a Palo Alto property, updating an older landscape, or adding an outdoor kitchen, fire feature or lighting to an existing yard, we start by understanding how you want to use the space. From there we build a plan that fits the architecture of your home, the conditions of your site and your budget, and we explain each phase before work begins.
How We Work
- Consultation: we walk the property with you, listen to your goals and assess slopes, drainage, sun and existing trees.
- Design: our designer develops a plan for layout, hardscape, planting, irrigation, drainage and lighting.
- Construction: our in-house crew builds the project, and your designer stays involved through completion.
- Ongoing care: our residential maintenance program keeps the landscape performing, with irrigation and lighting audits three times a year.
